Forgot to mention abt the career seminar that I attended in NYP yesterday. The best part is during the Behavioural Style Analysis, it helps us to understand and refine our work and management style, we will be able to see and understand ourselves as never before and be better prepared to show how we can live and work effectively.

I did the test in 2003 when I was secondary 4, my behaviour style was Dominant which all my friends including myself totally second for. I was very competitive, independent, strong-willed, result oriented and the list go on.

Now in 3 years later, my behaviour style is Influencing, but my characteristics of being dominant has never change. I am a mixture of both style now.

The speaker told us a inspiring story, I shall share with all my readers [:

CARROT. EGG or COFFEE BEAN?

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water. In the first, she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs and the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me what do you see?"
"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied.

She brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they got soft.She then asked her to take an egg and break it.

After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg.
Finally, she asked her to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled, as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked. "What's the point, mother?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity--boiling water--but each reacted differently.

The carrot went in strong, hard and unrelenting. However after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.

The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior. But, after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.

The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" she asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?"

Now think about life. Life is not always easy. Life is not always comfortable. Sometimes life is very hard. Things don’t happen like we wish. People don’t treat us like we hope. We work very hard but get few results. What happens when we face difficulties?

Think about the pots. The boiling water is like the problems of life.

We can be like the carrots. We go in tough and strong. We come out soft and weak. We get very tired. We lose hope. We give up. There is no more fighting spirit. Don’t be like the carrots!

We can be like the eggs. We start with a soft and sensitive heart. We end very hard and unfeeling inside. We hate others. We don’t like ourselves. We become hard-hearted. There is no warm feeling, only bitterness. Don’t be like the eggs!

We can be like the coffee beans. The water does not change the coffee powder. The coffee powder changes the water! The water has become different because of the coffee powder. See it. Smell it. Drink it. The hotter the water, the better the taste.

We can be like the coffee beans. When things are at their worst, we get better and change the situation around us. When the hours are the darkest and trials are their greatest do we elevate to another level? We make something good from the difficulties we face. We learn new things. We have new knowledge, new skills, new abilities. We grow in experience. We make the world around us better.

To succeed, we must try… and try again. We must believe in what we are doing. We must not give up. We must be patient. We must keep pushing. Problems and difficulties give us the chance to become stronger… and better… and tougher.

What are we like when things do not go well?Are we like the carrot… or the egg… or the coffee bean?

Be like the coffee bean!

My right eye contact lens dropped during my tutorial and can never be found thus I am a single-eye Joan yesterday! My right eye was in pain since I didn't realised that my contact lens dropped, as I have been rubbing my eyes trying to get it our of my eye!

Went to yishun to make a new contact lens before we headed towards Chinatown for our frog leg porridge! JASON KOH YONG JUN board the same train as us and I bet he suffered blue-blacks from me, as I have been beating him from Yio Chu Kang till town!

Brought the guys to People Park food centre for some fried dumpings before we made our way for frog porridge. We had alot for our dinner and all of us were bloated! The pics will tell you all!

After dinner, we decided to go walk around and to our surprise, we found alot of retro tibits at CK departmental store. The guys were taking lots of funny pictures, i shall grad hold of them soon and show you guys how gay they are [:

it was a tired day for me, I slept on the bus all the way from chinatown till CCK.

deja vu

Many scenes seem familiar to me, and I bet it is deja vu. It is good or bad?

Went to ECP on saturday before meeting the rest at campsite, I walked from ECP to campsite, it is just like another exercise impartiality. Slacked at campsite before making our way for some frog porridge at Geylang, we saw something interesting there.

Intially we wanted to go Eski bar, but Denise was unable to enter the bar thus we changed our chilling place to Wala-wala, to our surprise Holland Vill was very empty on a Saturday night.

Reached home at around 10am this morning [:

Went for a jog around my estate, I estimated well as it started pouring when I just reached home, if not I would have to jog in the rain. Aren't it romantic? ]:

how do we define close friends? here is the defination that daphen gave me.

close friends will welcome each other's company and exhibit loyalty towards each other, often to the point of altruism. Their tastes will usually be similar and may converge, and they will share enjoyable activities. They will also engage in mutually helping behavior, such as exchange of advice and the sharing of hardship. Often demonstrate reciprocating and reflective behaviors. most impt is nothing more than the trust that someone or something will not harm them.

When I had deep breath, somewhere near my rib cage feel pain and I have to slowly breath in so that there will have no pain, have been feeling so for the past 1 week.

It get worst today, at that moment I thought I am gona have a heart attack soon. Decided to see doctor and not to worry, there is nothing to do with my heart or lungs!

have not been feeling too good these 2 days, especially on monday, monday blues does affect me this week. Teared in the train is something that I never thought will happend, it was a moment of truth for me, a moment that I hope I had them before everything had happened, walked to Singapore river and had some time just for reflection.

When the tears rolled down my cheeks, it doesn't mean I am weak, it means that I am getting stronger.

Went to carrie's mum coffeeshop to have dinner, the food taste good and everyone was looking at the 2 cars when we were in sch!

Jason, Qihui and I were lost on our way to some prata shop at Bukit Timah for evac meeting, Denise and Daph screamed like mad when they saw xiao qiang, all of us were affected by them

Went over to airport with Jason and Daph to look for Qihui before going to circular TCC as Josh is treating! The bill is just like a stock market as he keep asking for updates.

Decided to pick Qihui up at the airport, we basically travelled the whole Singapore before we went Kenny hse.

Qihui, Jason and I decided not to go home and went to kayu for prata, we sat there till 6am before taking cab to airport. We woke up a mad lady at the viewing gallery.

Went over to airport AGAIN, to pick Qihui up.

Basically Jason and I went to the airport 3 times in a day and we were welcomed to Singapore each time we left the airport.

I love the song that is at my blog too. Beautiful by kelvin, a local singer. I can just relate alot of things or people to the song.

today was my first day of year 3 semster 2! it is the start of my last semster, the feeling is just like any other school day at the beginning but it ends off well with a small talk with ms cheng about my uni. [:

i think some guys look great in their uniform. *grins*
was looking through my friendster account and alot of them are already in uniform, which means they have entered a new chapter of their life, interesting. Still remember the days we were playing like kids in WGS, so fast we are now planning for our future.

you guys always get me into troubles, but i can cope them well [:

Kids are so unpredictable, 2 days before Yu Xuan (stella's niece) didnt want to play with Yu Hui and I, but yesterday just after I sat down, she jumped onto my lap and started playing with me. have been playing with her for around 2 hours, she is a very hyper kid. She even changed my name!

they are so navie and happy, they bring laughter everywhere and lighten the mood too. I feel tired but great after playing with her, she can just simply brings everything away.

sleep

Have not been sleeping well the past few days, but after talking to my mum finally I have a good sleep yesterday. It feels good when the heavy rock has been taken away, now there is nothing much to worry and I cant be bothered about the rest [:

went for evac accred in the morning, I reached much eariler than the expected time -_-" it was fun doing evac accred, I smiled during the accred [: Had luch at holland village before going home, all of us thought of going home for a rest before meeting in the evening for coffee at circular tcc, a place when I broke my bf!

In the end, I decided to go for OA gold bbq at ECP. I have to walk from area B to area D before reaching the pit, was walking along the beach and it was great when the sea breeze blows and my mp4 was playing some smoothing songs that allows me to think, think about alot of things. Did I tell you guys that I love going ECP when I am down?

The tcc gang came ECP after their coffee, got bullied by them. -_-" some of them went home while the rest of us went Sempan Bedok for a drink, it was my first time there, it was cool where the whole street sells prata!

Kenny Boey drove us home, dropped off at Yishun and since Jason and I werent tired, we went to Boardway coffeeshop to have a chat, we chatted till 5.30am! A lot of things were running through my mind during the talk, even now!

just finished watching the korean show "Full House", I know the show has been out in the market for donkey years and I am slow!

both Rain and Xin(Goong) are the same, just a typical guy who dont express his feelings to the girl he like yet try all his means to keep the girl by his side. They can be cunning yet loving at the same time, it just make a girl melt when they express their feelings in their own way.
